5 Practical Methods to Remove Can‑Candle Wax Stains from Clothes
Boiling water immersion method
Soak the can‑candle wax stain in boiling water, and when the candle oil has softened, gently remove it by hand or wash it with laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use boiling water on delicate or synthetic fabrics; high heat may damage fabric fibers.
Use a hair dryer and napkins
Place the napkin on the candle oil, use the hot air of the hair dryer for 3‑5 minutes, and the candle oil will naturally adsorb to the napkin.
Note: Keep heat setting low; too‑hot air can push wax deeper into fabric weave.
Use the alcohol method
Soak the candle‑oil area in alcohol before washing it with laundry detergent.
Note: Test alcohol on a hidden fabric spot first to avoid color fading.
Use the metal heating method
When an iron ruler or metal spoon is heated, it is moved over the candle oil, and the candle oil will also melt and adhere to the heated object.
Note: Handle hot metal carefully to prevent burns or fabric scorch.
Electric iron method
Turn the iron to a low setting, place a paper towel on top of the candle oil, and iron lightly so that the candle oil melts and adheres to the paper towel.
Note: Do NOT use steam; replace the paper towel frequently once saturated with wax.
Important Pre‑Treatment Reminder
Which method to choose depends on the material of the garment and the position of the candle oil. Before using these methods, it is advisable to test in an inconspicuous location to avoid damage to clothing. Do not put stained clothes into a dryer before wax is fully removed; dryer heat can permanently set wax stains.
